feeling encouraged and scared at the same time. Any type of surgery can feel intimidating, but remember that when it's one that will make such a HUGE difference....you have to trust that it's the right move.
I dealt with that feeling of fear before my daughter had hip surgery a year and a half ago. Her story is obviously quite different, but the thing was that she didn't need the surgery right then. It was something, discovered by 'accident' that would 'more than likely' cause her a lot of pain later in life. So we had the grueling decision of 'should we, shouldn't we'....and it was hard. Especially because I knew that with her autism, she would never understand what was going on and how to be careful afterwards.
We ended up doing it and it was a terrific decision and any of the fear I felt was erased because I made peace with the decision.
You'll feel the same when it comes to Ivy's surgery.....a peace because you know it's what is needed for her success.
~big hugs~
