Yes, an aquarium pump is TOO slow. With my scheme, if I want to speed things up I can simply remove the pipe cap.
I do recommend putting the compressor in a different part of the house, though. It's so noisy you won't even hear the balloon inflating. Heck, with my compressor you might not even hear the balloon popping!
