Champagne & Balloons

My GF is having issues blowing up balloons. She is new to this and said that she has always had trouble blowing up balloons. I blew up a 24" Tuftex half way and handed it over to her and she couldn't do it. I think that she has issues with the air coming back on her.

Anyone have any suggestions that I could use to help her?
