Hi again Wannabe,
I didn't discover this community until about a month after I turned 21 in 1998. It's a long story but I had an old high school buddy who was searching for porn and he accidentally found RPB Studios and their balloon fetish content. Before that, I had no idea there was even a community out there. I borrowed a different friend's work laptop, an old Toshiba Satellite, and that's when I found Chipple's "#balloons" page and the Champagne & Balloons Forum. I didn't buy my first computer (a Dell with Millennium Edition on it, UGH!) until August 2001, exactly one month to the day before 9-11. I spent many hours chatting on mIRC #balloons and the Buddylist back then.
As far as I know, a guy named "Buster" had an ad in the back of a gay newspaper for the original Balloon Buddies Mailing List back in 1976. Which was an old fashioned snail mail newsletter that was obviously intended for gay men who liked balloons.
I first tinkered with the "Information Superhighway" at DeVry Institute back in 1995, right after I graduated high school. (Yes, I know only suckers went to DeVry, but I digress.) DeVry had just upgraded the computer lab with Windows 95 and I remember being in awe of Netscape Navigator and searching for Yo Mamma jokes!
I never found any reference to balloon fetishism or inflatable fetishism at all when searching for it back then. I did however chat on Bianca's Smut Shack a few times. But no references to balloons in any of the rooms on Bianca's either.
I have no idea how I would have found out about this community if it wasn't for the internet. I would still feel all alone and depressed I suppose.
