Im not sure that you can help him...
If thats his personality he most likely doesnt think there is anything wrong with wanting everything his own way so if you try to change him hes not going to like it very much...
His he perhaps an only child?...or perhaps hes from a large family where he felt he had no control as a child so now hes an adult hes going to have that control...

I think you just have to accept him as he is but that doesnt mean you have to allow him to walk all over you...if you dont want to do something that he insists on...then dont...let him throw his tantrum and just ignore him until hes over it
