is a tech support nightmare. If he can't figure out something immediately, he dials tech support (as for his computer, the hotel software etc )
Today, he was trying to fix a problem on his MAC and I asked 3 times if his cables were all plugged in. (I only asked because he kept saying he couldn't find the "net" and yes the computer was online yesterday) "YES!" he yelled at me.
Well, 10 minutes later, he looked and no, they weren't all plugged in correctly. I said nothing.
When the first MAC started to fail, I urged him to back up everything (lord knows, he's got enough CDs and DVDs, not to mention an external hard drive). Yet today, he's in a panic because he hadn't backed up anything yet. I said nothing.
I used to try and work with him on his PC but he's a MAC person - the hotel website is only IE/PC friendly so he got a laptop for the hotel website. Anyway, I've tried to work with him on the PC but he won't follow instructions, goes off on tangents (clicking on shit he has no business clicking on when we're trying to solve a particular problem.)
I know nothing about MACS so I've escaped any of that crap. I now play dumb when it comes to his PC. He won't listen to me, and when he eventually figures out his problem, he says "I found it" and I used to reply "right where I told you to check". Now I say "great!" I'll be damned if I know anything about PCs when I'm here at work.
(another thing - we have one computer that controls the marquee sign - it is very old, and the hard drive is failing - I can hear it whine often. I've warned him about it for weeks. Last week, he finally called someone - yet to date, hasn't had it fixed. His concern is he doesn't want to have to purchase a new sign for $30,000- didn't listen when I told him...... it's the COMPUTER not the sign that's the problem. He worries excessively for nothing.)
Ok - the big question: if someone asked you to help with something that's not part of your job description but you know you can do it, and they (whoever asked for the help) is difficult to work with - would you try and help or do like I do and play dumb?
